The business to be divested includes the global business of Methyl Methacrylate-Butadiene-Styrene (MBS) terpolymer, as well as the European and Asian business of Acrylate Copolymers (AIMPA), all of which fall under the Group’s Coating Solutions Division. In 2024, this segment generated sales of 44 million euros.
The transaction involves the divestiture of the production plant in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, which employs 50 staff members. On the other hand, Arkema will retain its Mobile plant in the United States as well as all its AIMPA business in the country.
These plastic additives can significantly enhance the impact resistance of PVC and various composite materials used in the construction and packaging industries, while also optimizing the production efficiency of extrusion and molding processes.
India’s Praana Group is a leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals and composite materials. Its subsidiaries include Sterling Specialty Chemicals, Galata Chemicals, Artek Surfin Chemicals and 3B Fibreglass, which provide advanced solutions for the construction, textile, automotive, cleaning and personal care product industries, as well as various industrial markets.
The proposed divestiture is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026, subject to initial information and consultation procedures involving employee representative bodies in the Netherlands.
Through this business restructuring, Arkema will continue to optimize its portfolio management and further focus on high-value-added strategic businesses in the specialty materials sector.
