Product Introduction

Loctite 518 One-component, medium strength, anaerobic sealant that cures in the absence of an environment for a tight fit The air between metal surfaces. Typical applications include sealing tight-fitting joints and flanges between rigid metal surfaces. Provides resistance to low pressure immediately after flange assembly. Typically used as a gasket on in-place form rigid flange connections such as gearboxes and engines LOCTITE 518 is a thixotropic matrix that reduces the migration of liquid products after application. Loctite 518  provides robust cure performance. It works not only on active metals (e.g. mild steel) but also on passive substrates such as aluminum with low copper content. The product offers gap performance up to 0.25 mm (0.01 in.) and contamination tolerance. It cures minor surface contamination in the presence of various oils such as cutting fluids, lubricating fluids, anti-corrosion and protective fluids and cleaners containing surfactants and corrosion inhibitors.
